I read last week that the science world is celebrating the confirmation of Albert Einstein’s theory around gravitational waves that are present after black holes collide in space. They say this has happened and the gravitational waves are all around us right now! Is this the reason that time has slowed to a crawl and each work day is now taking longer and longer? Did I pass a black hole on the way to work that is trying to suck me back into last week? It feels like it.
I have trained my replacement at work now. He started last Tuesday after the long weekend and I had him for 3 days then he went on holiday for the next 2 weeks. Great way to start a new job, take a holiday. I am sure he will have remembered nothing when he starts, but I have a feeling I will not be too worried about that. It felt good to be telling someone how to do my job. Made me feel like I actually knew something, but better than that, it made me believe that I will be actually leaving… yay! Having said that I will miss ALL the people I work with, but not the job so much… Today is the start of the last 2 weeks of work. We have been doing lots of things around home to try to take our minds off the fact we still have to work. It’s been good, and we have been making really good headway on organising our things and by the time we finish work, we will have zero to complete. This could mean a month of fishing? A month of hiking?? What about a month of doing nothing??? This could all be good and bad. Good, as we have plenty of time. Bad, as time equals money and we don’t want to spend any more time or money in New Zealand. We just want to get this show on the road and start this trip! So after this last weekend, it looks like it’s going to be a month of fishing, hiking, day walking trips and relaxing while we count down to the 3rd of April departure date. So we are going to do it all. Why not! We are house sitting for Christine’s parents while they travel around Australia in a camper van and we are 20 meters from the beach at Whangaparaoa, so I think we are in the right place at the right time. How good is this life ah! |
it's Our Epic Trip...David & Christine are from New Zealand and are embarking on a trip around the world the slow way, on foot and by personal vehicle. This could get interesting! Archives
